We are all busy people, no question about it.
Between constantly writing great content for our blogs, guest posting, networking, building relationships, blog hopping, managing all sorts of social media networks – you name it, our time is definitely spoken for.
Lo and behold, there’s another claim to our time out there: Google Plus social network.
So far, I’ve successfully avoided talking about this log in our eyes, but one thing is clear: we, the bloggers and business owners, cannot ignore it much longer.
I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately as to
- whether I think Google Plus social network is here to stay;
- is it here to stay or is it shaping up to be yet another Google flop;
- how will it affect Facebook;
- is it going to be useful for business?
No doubt in my mind, most of you are asking the same thing.
Out of some 500 invitations that I sent out to my Gmail contacts, about half are yet to join Google Plus Social. Just goes to show that a huge number of you are still thinking about it.
Let me see if I can help you reach some sort of conclusion by offering my educated guesses as to some of those question about Google Plus social network.
Google Plus Social Speculations
Truth is it’s too early to tell when it comes down to some of these questions.
Is Google Plus here to stay? Only time will show.
Will it kill Facebook as we know it?
In my opinion, Google Plus and Facebook fan page are two entirely different things; from what I can see so far, they can easily and peacefully co-exist. For the time being, anyway.
Google Plus Business Profiles: Google recently announced that they will be coming up with business profiles a lot sooner than originally expected; something to keep an eye fo.
Google Plus and SEO
Given my love for all things SEO, this is one aspect of Google plus social network that is extremely attractive.
Google +1 Button: I bet you Google +1, which is their version of Facebook Like button, is on its way to being worked into Google search engine ranking algorithm.
If you want to stay ahead of the game, I would highly suggest that you start displaying it all over your blog and encouraging your readers to “click it”.
Speaking of which, it would absolutely fantastic if you took about 1 second needed to click on that button – you can find it just about everywhere on my site.
Google Loves Google Plus: no surprise there really.
When you write about something on Google Plus and people in your circles google the topic, your comments and links are automatically displayed on the first page of results.
Doesn’t get any bigger than that, really. No backlinks, no promotion, no SEO – just free search engine traffic!
Google Plus Marketing Takeaway
My suggestion is to stop pondering whether Google Plus social is here to stay.
That’s where your potential audience is going and that’s where you should be.
Aren’t a part of Google Plus yet? Need an invite? I’d be happy to oblige; just let me know in the comments.
Don’t know much about it? Hey, none of us knew a thing about it a few short weeks ago; you’ll figure it out as you go.
Just don’t wait too long; Google Plus social network is developing rapidly and the sooner you start, the easier it’ll be.
